(a Japanese haibun)

[A Japanese haibun usually consists of three short sentences followed by a related haiku. Here, I took some liberties with the haiku to make it more meaningful.]

Gravity’s waves push and pull; I seek my footing. Sun-kissed, I sway to the dances of our star and its planets. And, focused, I find beauty in the universe’s rhythmic, meditational breathing.

Waves ebb and flow against
the broken shoreline
Ebb and flow
Carving their niche
Like the soul within us
