(a Trijan Refrain)

I wish the pain would go from me
I despair though every day
The darkness now is all I see
I cannot find my way
All hope is lost in my great quest
I cannot do what I know is best
All hope is lost
All hope is lost
Yet still I strain to pass the test

I wish the pain would go from me
If I could find the one
In whose wisdom I could learn the key
And all darkness then be done
I work to change what troubles lie
Upon the path so steep and high
I work to change
I work to change
The mountains grown up to the sky

I wish the pain would go from me
Leave me free at last
Ebb in waves just like the sea
And remain away steadfast
I know I can make it right
Break the chains that bind so tight
I know I can
I know I can
And so I try with all my might
